Well, despite all the anxiety and excitement, today is Saturday and I am not at my long-awaited class reunion — I am at my desk. After a very slow June, I am literally swimming in work. So I skipped this weekend’s event and worked instead. I did not make the decision to stay in Austin until the last minute, but I am in a position right now where the opportunities are mine to lose — and I decided to think long-tern success instead of short-term fun. I don’t know why it is so easy to adopt that attitude regarding work and so much harder when it comes to fitness — especially healthy eating.
I consider this week a moderate success. Considering how much work I did and how much temptation to eat comes with that work, I feel like I did OK. I didn’t do as well as last week, but it certainly wasn’t as bad as it could have been. Sharon, you asked me last week how I only ate half a bag of M&Ms. The answer: Once I decided I just had to have them, I opened the bag and poured half in the trash before I ever got to my car with them. I wish I had that kind of control all the time.
I was able to raise my weights as you suggested, Armand. I am going to make the four long cardio sessions a priority again this week. I feel so much better when I do, and I have more energy, which I need with all this work; in fact, I am off to the gym right this very minute.
